Louis Fat Boy Smart Love
Ever since Arnie came to live with me, I knew that one day there would be a second smooth collie in my life. However, I was giving myself time to do so. And when Arnie was 2.5 years old, the decision came unexpectedly. I fell in love with the little pups from the Polish kennel Smart Love. I had the opportunity to meet the puppies’ parents earlier at dog shows. And so, in August 2018, I brought little Lumos with me from Gdansk.
Today Lumos is quite a big dog. His body is massive, he has strong bones, a strong neck and a broad chest. He has a nice coat colour, with wonderful little merling spots, which always made me blush when Lumos was still a puppy. His hind legs are strong and decently angulated. He carries his neck and tail elegantly. He is undoubtedly a big boy. After all, the official name obliges ; )
Personality
Lumos is very social. He has clear needs for being part of a pack and being close to his human. Therefore, he is very attentive to me, which is wonderful, because on walks he usually doesn’t move away, he willingly and happily comes when called. He is the one who makes sure he doesn’t lose me. Not the other way around. Unlike Arnie, he won’t be interested in chasing a hare, even if it dashes right out from under his paws (proven several times).
Lumos has the will to please his human, which makes him great to work with. As befits a social dog – he will happily work even with a purely social reward. However, he is also a huge glutton and sometimes he loses his mind in the presence of food. He learns quickly and comprehends his tasks nicely to the point that he amazes me sometimes. As a pack creature, he initiates close physical relationships in our flock – likes to sleep “in a pack” and is a huge petter. Cheerful and clownish – he sometimes freaks out to suck up to Arnie or just to make things funnier.

Lumos at the International Dog Show

Lumos has been shown since he was a puppy. He had his debut in December 2018 at the National Dog Show in Świebodzice, where he won his first title in the baby class. I remember a very funny moment from that show, when after his performance little Lumos managed by some miracle to escape from his crate. Passing the crowd, he ran straight into the ring to me while I was introducing Arnie to the judge. He sat down in front of me and waited for the cookies. Just imagine my consternation ; ). Well, he showed that he is very comfortable in the ring.
The judges liked Lumos enough to find further success. He even stood on the podium several times in the final competitions. This encouraged me to show him abroad as well. The world of dog shows opened up wider. Lumos graduated several championships and the judges rewarded him with titles such as Club Winner (2021), Split Winner (2021), Junior Club Winner (2019), Junior Polish Winner (2019). He also took 1st place in the Polish Top Smooth Collie rank two years in a row (2019, 2020).
